Writing every day can help you improve your English production and confidence. Daily writing should focus on these points and less on grammar. Write daily as a way also to practice grammar and vocabulary you have learned recently.

Limit yourself to exactly eight minutes–don’t stop early, and don’t write too much so you get tired. You should be able to write at least eight sentences in this time (one sentence per minute). Do your best to write more sentences in the given time every day.

Topic: My Most Interesting Dream

Do you often have dreams? Do you remember your dreams? What is a dream you remember? Maybe it was an interesting or strange dream. Maybe it was a recurring dream. Describe it. When did you have it? Did you like it? Was it a nightmare? Be creative with your response.

Topic: Thanksgiving & What I am Thankful For

We should be thankful at all times, but Thanksgiving is especially when we should be thankful. What are you thankful for? Why? Share what you are thankful for with your friends and family. Thank them–it will make them happy.

Topic: My Family

Describe your family. Where does everyone live? What does everyone do? What is everyone’s favorite activity, food, etc.? Who do you get along with best? Do you have any pets?

Topic: Scary Things

What are some scary things to you? What do you think is scary? What makes it scary? What do you do when you see these things? Why don’t you like them?

Topic: Most Interesting Place

What is the most interesting place you have ever been? Describe it in detail. Where was it? What did you like about it? When did you go there? Is it a place you have been to many times? Do you think you will be back?

Topic: My Happiest Moment

What has been the happiest moment in your life so far? What happened? Describe it in detail. What made you so happy? Was it something which can happen again? What would be something which would make you even happier?

Topic: My Favorite Activity

What is your favorite sport or activity? Describe it. Why do you like it? When do you usually do it? Do you get to do it very often? Would you like to be able to do it more? Do you think you can make it a part of your job in the future?

Topic: My Role Model

Who do you admire most? In other words, who do you use as a role model? Who do you want to be like? Why do you want to be like this person? What do you like about them?

Topic: My Biggest Goal

What is your biggest goal in life? What do you want to do after high school? What do you want to do after college? What kind of job do you want to have? Why do you want to do these things? What do you have to do to accomplish your goals?

Topic: My Daily Routine

Write about your daily routine. For example, what time do you wake up in the morning? What do you do before coming to school? How do you get to school? What do you do at school, between classes, at recess, and at lunch? What do you do after school? What do you do in the evenings?

Expansion: Write about someone else’s routine. Maybe it is your mother or father, someone else in your family, a friend, or someone else. Use the writing you did about yourself as a guideline.

Topic: Three Wishes

If a magic genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? They can be anything you want. Why would you wish those things, and what would you be able to do if they were granted?

Topic: Pets

Do you have a pet? If not, would you like to have one? Why or why not? Did you used to have a pet? Describe your pet or your ideal pet. If you do not want a pet tell why.

Topic: Keeping Organized

What sort of plans do you have to keep organized and on task? a What are some ways you will make sure you complete your homework assignments and turn them in on time for your classes? How about your plan for reading material for class or learning new vocabulary? What will you do to prepare for the future? Why do you want to try these ways or why do you think they will work for you?

Topic: Cellular Phones

The first call using a cellular phone was made on April 3, 1973, fourth-five years ago today. Write about the history and importance of cell phones. Use knowledge you know–you don’t have to look anything up.

Here are some questions which might help you get started. What are cell phones? How do people use them? What is their importance in modern society? How have they changed in your lifetime? How do you use a cell phone? How do you think cell phones will change in the future?

Topic: Best Friends

What qualities does it take to be a best friend? List and describe several. Do you think you have those qualities? Why or why not? Are these qualities easy to find? Have you found someone in your life who has these qualities?

Topic: Siblings

April 10th is “National Sibling Day.” If you have a sibling, explain what activities you enjoy doing with them. If you don’t have a sibling, would you like one? Why or why not?

Topic: Favorite Media

What is your favorite movie, T.V. show, YouTuber, etc.? Describe the movie, etc. What happens? Why do you like it? If you watch it time and time again, why do you like to watch it so much? Do you have an idea for a part two or new episode of the show? Would you like to create something similar? Why or why not? What would you have to do to create something like that?

Topic: Earth Day

What is earth day? (If you don’t know, look it up.) What do you think about it? Is it important? Should we protect our planet? Why or why not? What are some things you do to protect our Earth for future generations?

Topic: I cannot live without…

What is something you feel like you cannot live without? For example cookies, cereal, your phone, an app, a game, your family, your friends, etc. Why do you feel this way? How long have you felt this way?
